Abertaf

The above colour image of Abertaf was taken in 1913.

Now reclaimed by nature, the quarry on Cefn Glas Mountain is clearly visible and probably still being worked.

Beneath it, along with the houses of Greenfield Terrace, is Abertaf Infants School which had opened in 1904 and Abertaf Mixed School, opened in 1906. The two schools were later amalgamated to form Abertaf Primary School before finally being closed in July 2013.

To the left, obscured by  the trees is Abercynon Higher Standard/ Central School, now Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Aberynon.
